LOCATION - Lat 41°17'57.9", long 76°16'28.2" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Luzerne County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 02050107, in Ricketts Glen State Park.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 167 ft. Upper casing diameter 6 in; top of first opening 40 ft, bottom of last opening 167 ft. Drilled unused observation well, cased to 40 ft, open hole.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 1,274 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Measuring point: top of casing; MODIFIED DATE FOR AQ MIGRATION; 10/19/1963, 1.0 ft above land-surface datum, Oct. 1, 1963 to Nov. 23, 1994; top of extended casing, 1.7 ft above land-surface datum, Nov. 23, 1994 to Apr. 19, 1999; top of shelter platform, 2.79 ft above land-surface datum, Apr. 19, 1999 to present. Elevation of land surface is from Lidar.
PERIOD OF RECORD - November 1994 to current year.
GAGE - Data collection platform with 15-minute recording interval. Iridium satellite telemetry at station.
COOPERATION - Site maintained in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Geological Survey.
REMARKS - Well levels affected by nearby intermittent pumpage. Daily maximum water levels are available for this well for the period of record. For some years, daily minimum and daily mean water levels may also be available from the USGS Pennsylvania Water Science Center Office.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Prior to October 2000, the extremes shown were based on extremes of the daily maximum depth below land-surface datum. Since that date, the extremes are based on the instantaneous depth below land-surface datum. Highest water level, 26.15 ft below land-surface datum, Sept 8, 2011; lowest, 38.20 ft below land-surface datum, Oct 18, 19, 1998.
