LOCATION - Lat 38°06'18.9", long 75°38'10.9" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Somerset County, MD, Hydrologic Unit 02080111, off of U.S. Rt. 13, 4.5 mi west of intersection of U.S. Rt. 13, and MD Rt. 364, near Costen.
REVISIONS HISTORY - Groundwater levels for the period Sept. 21, 2017 to Nov. 22, 2021 were revised on Mar. 22, 2022, based on changes to the land surface datum. 
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 15 ft. Upper casing diameter 1.25 in; top of first opening 12 ft, bottom of last opening 15 ft. Drilled, observation, water-table well.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 17.85 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Measuring point: Top of casing, 1.0 ft above land-surface datum, Jul. 11, 1985 to Sep. 17, 2009; Top of casing, 0.28 ft above land-surface datum, Sep. 16, 2009 to present.
PERIOD OF RECORD - August 1949 to current year.
GAGE - Water-level measurements by U.S. Geological Survey personnel. Equipped with digital water-level recorder--30 minute recorder interval from October 2009 to October 2012. Equipped with digital water-level recorder--15 minute recorder interval from September 2017.
REMARKS -
  • Water Year 2017-2023: Records good.

  • Maryland Groundwater-Level Monitoring Network observation well. Water levels are affected by natural climatic changes. U.S. Geological Survey satellite data-collection platform at station.
    EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Highest water level measured, 0.39 ft above land-surface, July 16, 2023 (recorder); lowest measured, 6.55 ft below land-surface, September 27, 2002.
