LOCATION - Lat 37°21'45", long 76°49'32" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, James City, VA, Hydrologic Unit 02080206, 1.75 mi south of the intersection of U.S. Highway 60 and State Highway 631 (Church Lane), off a dirt road at the end of State Highway 631, and 0.10 mi north of the pump station at Little Creek Reservoir. Owner: City of Newport News.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 695 ft. Upper casing diameter 12 in; top of first opening 530 ft, bottom of last opening 690 ft. Drilled observation water well, diameter 6 in. from 300 to 695 ft, screened 530 to 540 ft, 558 to 598 ft, 604 to 624 ft, 660 to 690 ft.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 84 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Measuring point: TOP OF CASING, 4.3 ft above land-surface datum, May 1, 1988 to present.
PERIOD OF RECORD - May 1988 to current year. Station temporarily out of service due to storm damage Oct. 9, 2016 to Feb. 1, 2017.
GAGE - Electronic data logger and pressure transducer, 15-minute record interval. Prior to Nov. 4, 1999, digital recorder, 60-minute record interval.
REMARKS - Well is located in Middle Potomac aquifer of Cretaceous age. Water level affected by regional drawdown.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Highest water level recorded, 155.79 ft below land-surface datum, May 25, 1988; lowest recorded, 191.12 ft below land-surface datum, Oct. 26, 27, 2015.
