LOCATION - Lat 37°20'53.27", long 78°49'37.74" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Appomattox County, VA, Hydrologic Unit 03010102, 290 ft east of State Highway 727 and 1,200 ft north of high school, in Town of Appomattox. Owner: Town of Appomattox.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 300 ft. Upper casing diameter 6.00 in; top of first opening 79 ft, bottom of last opening 300 ft. Drilled unused water well, cased to 42.5 ft, open hole from 42.5 to 300 ft.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 775 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Measuring point: TOP OF SHELF, 2.46 ft above land-surface datum, Mar. 12, 2010, to present.
PERIOD OF RECORD - January 2009 to current year.
GAGE - Electronic data logger and pressure transducer, 15-minute record interval.
REMARKS - Well is located in greenstone and amphibole gneiss of Cambrian age. Records provided by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division. Water level affected by magnitude 5.8 Mineral, VA earthquake on Aug. 23, 2011.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Highest water level recorded, 0.42 ft above land-surface datum, Feb. 24, 2016; lowest recorded, 3.10 ft below land-surface datum, July 30, 2011.
