LOCATION - Lat 36°37'14.15", long 76°06'35.03" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Virginia Beach City, VA, Hydrologic Unit 03010205, at northeast corner of Blackwater Neighborhood Park, on Head of River Road in Virginia Beach. Owner: City of Virginia Beach.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 100 ft. Upper casing diameter 4 in; top of first opening 88 ft, bottom of last opening 98 ft. Drilled observation water well, screened 88 to 98 ft.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 10.39 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Measuring point: TOP OF PVC CASING, INDICATED BY BLACK MARK ON CASING, 2.17 ft above land-surface datum, Jul. 18, 2000 to present.
PERIOD OF RECORD - August 2000 to current year. Unpublished records available prior to October 2002 in files of the USGS.
GAGE - Electronic data logger and pressure transducer, 60-minute record interval. Prior to April 2001, occasional measurement with chalked tape by USGS personnel.
REMARKS - Well is located in Yorktown confining unit of Pliocene age.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Highest water level recorded, 3.42 ft below land-surface datum, Apr. 26, 2003; lowest recorded, 9.40 ft below land-surface datum, Aug. 18, 2011.
