  • Water-Year Summary reports summarize a year of hydrologic data in a printer-friendly format.
  • For water years 2014 onward, choose a water year and parameter and an on-demand Water-Year Summary report will be generated.
  • For water years 2006 through 2013, choose a water year and an Annual Water Data Report will be provided.
  • For water years 2005 and earlier, Annual Water Data Reports may be available in digital format.
  • Not all sites have reports available for every water year.

USGS Water-Year Summary 2024
15236900 WOLVERINE CREEK NEAR LAWING, AK
LOCATION - Lat 60°22'14", long 148°53'48" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NE 1/4 sec.10, T.3 N., R.3 E., Kenai Peninsula Borough, AK, Hydrologic Unit 19020201, (Seward B-6 quad), on the left bank, approximately 0.1 mi downstream from terminus of Wolverine Glacier, 2.0 mi upstream from mouth, and 16 mi east of Lawing.
DRAINAGE AREA - 9.40 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - On December 16, 2016, maximum and daily discharges for water years 1997-2015 were revised. They supersede figures previously published in Water-Data Reports for those years (WDR-AK-XX). Previous or subsequent revisions to data, if any, are available in USGS Water Data for the Nation at http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/inventory?search_site_no=15236900

Water years 1997 and 2001-2015 discharge records were revised using Stage-Discharge Rating 9.0, applying variable shifts indicated by respective discharge measurements based on hydrological events, as necessary. Stage-Discharge Rating 9.0 best describes the stage-discharge relationship at Wolverine Creek for this period, being balanced by recent high- and low- flow measurements. Gage height record was not re-scrutinized from original approved record beyond identifying and appropriately flagging erroneous and backwater affected instantaneous values. All revisions followed 'seasonal record' protocol; flagging in NWIS ice-affected stage record as erroneous during (winter) periods based on record review. All annual peaks for this period were revised in the USGS Peak Flow File.

Instantaneous discharge for WY 1997 and 2001-2007. This period previously revised Dec. 16, 2016 by JSO based on changes to the stage discharge rating. Migration to Aquarius brought non-revised data in for this period from the Instantaneous Data Archive. This revision publishes those data effective Nov. 23, 2021.

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1966 to September 1978, October 1980 to September 1981; May to September 1997, October 2000 to current year, seasonal records only.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 1170.98 ft NAVD88.
REMARKS - Stream flow is modified by runoff from the melting of Wolverine Glacier, which covers 6.8 mi², more than 70% of the drainage basin. A recording air temperature, wind speed and direction, and precipitation gage at 3,250 ft above sea level, as well as three glacier mass balance measurement sites are also located in the basin. Combined snow, ice, and water balances of the basin are published in other reports of the Geological Survey. GOES satellite telemetry at station.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD -

WATER TEMPERATURE: April 2016 to current year, seasonal

SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: April 2016 to September 2024, seasonal

pH: April 2016 to September 2024, seasonal

TURBIDITY: April 2016 to September 2024, seasonal

DISSOLVED OXYGEN: April 2016 to September 2024, seasonal

INSTRUMENTATION - Water-quality monitor recording Water Temperature, Specific Conductance, Dissolved Oxygen, pH, and Turbidity set at 15-minute interval is seasonal. Data are transmitted via GOES satellite.
