SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1979 to September 1981 and June 1992 to current year. October 2002 to current year (lake-stage). Records for November 1922 to September 1927 and August 1963 to October 1969, published as Tyee Creek at Mouth near Wrangell (station 15020100) are not equivalent owing to inflow between sites.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder used for reservoir elevation is 1,630.5 ft. above sea level in Gate Valve House on north side of lake. Elevation of water-stage recorder used to compute discharge is 1,430 ft. above sea level, across lake from upper site. The gage datum to compute discharge was changed to above sea level in August 2014, prior to flow over new weir at lake outlet. Prior to June 9, 1992, at site 500 ft downstream at datum 13.66 ft. lower.
REMARKS - Water for power generation is diverted from Tyee Lake and discharged into Bradfield Canal. Diversion to hydropower plant began February 1984, and is not included in the discharge records. A concrete weir was installed at the lake outlet by SE Alaska Power Agency over the summer of 2013, which raised the level of Tyee lake Discharge estimates only account for flow over the weir and do not account for leakage through the bedrock.
