10172630 GOGGIN DRAIN NEAR MAGNA UTAH
LOCATION - Lat 40°49'00", long 112°06'00" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Salt Lake County, UT, Hydrologic Unit 16020204, about 7 mi downstream from Surplus Canal wasteway, 3.3 mi north of Saltair, and 7.2 mi north of Magna.
DRAINAGE AREA - unknown
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1963 to September 1968, October 1971 to September 1984, May 2006 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 4,194.01 ft. above NAVD of 1988 from Level II GNSS surveys conducted on September 23, 2020. Prior to June 14, 2006, gage was located 400 feet upstream at a datum 10.00 feet higher.
REMARKS - The Goggin Drain primarily diverts Jordan River water from the Surplus Canal to the Great Salt Lake proper, rather than to Farmington Bay. Goggin Drain also collects some other natural drainage and surplus water spilled from canals in the area. Records are good except for estimated discharges which are poor and other exceptions as noted.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 2,340 ft³/s, Jun 20, 21, 2011, gage height 17.71 ft; minimum, no flow on several days during many years.
