  • Water-Year Summary reports summarize a year of hydrologic data in a printer-friendly format.
  • For water years 2014 onward, choose a water year and parameter and an on-demand Water-Year Summary report will be generated.
  • For water years 2006 through 2013, choose a water year and an Annual Water Data Report will be provided.
  • For water years 2005 and earlier, Annual Water Data Reports may be available in digital format.
  • Not all sites have reports available for every water year.

USGS Water-Year Summary 2024
08067252 Trinity River at Wallisville, TX
LOCATION - Lat 29°48'44", long 94°43'52" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Chambers County, TX, Hydrologic Unit 12030203, in the center of the Trinity River Dam at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers river lock which is located 3.0 miles west along Interstate Highway 10 from the Interstate overpass over Farm Road 563, 2.0 miles below Wallisville and 3.9 river miles from mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA - 17,796 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - Discharge for the period Nov. 7, 2017, to Mar. 14, 2018, was revised on Jul. 19, 2019, based on changes to the index-velocity rating.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Oct. 1994 to current year (daily maximum and minimum water-surface elevation), Apr. 2014 to Dec. 23, 2019 (daily mean discharge).
GAGE - Water-stage recorders. Datum of gage is North American Vertical Datum 1988.  Prior to Oct. 1, 2023, datum of gage was NGVD of 1929. Prior to Mar. 1999 at site 2.3 mi upstream. Satellite telemeters at station.
REMARKS - Pressure transducers are installed to record river elevation on the upstream and downstream side of the dam. Daily mean discharge determined after applying Godin Filter to remove tidal effects from unit values. Changes in elevation are mostly caused by tidal fluctuations. Some records listed in the "Period of Record" for surface water and water quality may not be available electronically.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum elevation, 15.65 ft, Sept. 13, 2008 (Hurricane Ike); minimum elevation, -2.33 ft, Dec. 26, 2012. Maximum discharge, 35,900 ft³/s, Sep. 1, 2017 (Hurricane Harvey).
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - CHEMICAL DATA: Apr. 2009 to current year. BIOCHEMICAL DATA: Apr. 2009 to current year. SEDIMENT DATA: Apr. 2009 to current year.
PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: July 1995 to current year. WATER TEMPERATURE: July 1995 to current year.
INSTRUMENTATION - Water-quality monitor since July 1995. A second water-quality monitor was installed on downstream side of dam Mar. 19, 1999. A third water-quality monitor was installed on the upstream side of the dam, in the lock chamber, on Aug. 11, 2011.
REMARKS - Interruptions or periods of missing record may be due to instrument failure, no flow conditions or data corrections exceeding allowable criteria, which were deleted. Other than no flow conditions, minimum and maximum extremes may have occurred during period of missing record Gage was relocated to permanent location after dam and lock were completed on Mar. 18, 1999, from temporary location 2.3 miles upstream. Water-quality monitors are installed to record data on the upstream and downstream sides of the dam. Some records listed in the "Period of Record" for surface water and water quality may not be available electronically.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE (UPSTREAM): Maximum, 28,400 microsiemens/cm, May 8, 2011; minimum, 107 microsiemens/cm, Nov. 18, 2003. WATER TEMPERATURE (UPSTREAM): Maximum, 34.9°C, July 22, 2001; minimum, 6.2°C, Jan. 11, 2010.
