LOCATION - Lat 36°16'42", long 95°57'14" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NW 1/4 NW 1/4 sec.29, T.21 N., R.13 E., Tulsa County, OK, Hydrologic Unit 11070107, near downstream side of right abutment of county road bridge, 1.5 mi upstream from Delaware Creek, 2.4 mi downstream from Hominy Creek, 2.5 mi southeast of Sperry, and at mile 25.0.
DRAINAGE AREA - 907 mi². From automated delineation using 10-meter National Elevation Dataset digital elevation model data dated 10/01/2006 and Watershed Boundary Dataset dated 10/01/2006, using Albers Equal-Area Projection, North American Datum 1983.
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 1117: Drainage area. WSP 1921: 1943. WDR 2012: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1938 to current year. Monthly discharge only for some periods, published in WSP 1311.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 579.76 feet above NAVD 88. Current datum was determined by a GNSS Level II RTN survey Check in/Check out completed on NGS PID GG0969 with +.04/-.03 difference. Benchmark check in made on NGS PID DN4405 (+.09 difference) and DN4406 (-.09 difference) and tied to RM-7. Prior to 10/01/2021 datum in use was 579.43 feet above NGVD 1929.  Flow slightly regulated since 1958 by Bluestem Lake (capacity 17,000 acre-ft) and Birch Lake (capacity 19,200 acre-ft). Flow regulated since August 20, 1989 by Skiatook Lake (capacity 322,300 acre-ft) when conservation pool was first reached.

All estimated records are considered poor unless noted otherwise.

Prior to regulation, water years 1939-1984, average discharge was 484 cubic feet per second.

EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood in 1915 reached a stage similar to flood of Oct. 31, 1941, 30.14 ft, from information provided by local residents.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge for period of record, 90,000 cubic feet per second, Oct. 3,1959, from rating curve extended. Maximum gage height for period of record, 32.60 ft, Oct. 3, 1959. No flow at times in 1939, 1954-1957, 1964-1966, 1970.
