LOCATION - Lat 42°35'45", long 82°54'32" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Macomb County, MI, Hydrologic Unit 04090003, on right bank at downstream side of bridge on Moravian Drive, 0.2 mi downstream from North Branch, and 0.5 mi west of Mount Clemens.
DRAINAGE AREA - 734 mi².

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS

GAGE - Water-stage recorder, acoustic velocity meter and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 570.10 ft above NAVD 88. May 10, 1934 to Jan. 11, 1939, nonrecording gage at same site and datum. Mar. 15, 1938 to Jan. 3, 1952, auxiliary nonrecording gage 1.6 mi downstream from base gage at same datum. Jan. 4, 1952 to June 27, 2000, auxiliary water-stage recorder on right bank 2.0 mi downstream from base gage at same datum.
REMARKS - Flow since the 1960's has been augmented by effluent from municipal sewage-treatment plants and cooling water from industrial plants, most of which originates from sources outside the basin.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 21,200 ft³/s, Apr. 6, 1947, gage height, 23.55 ft, from floodmark.
