LOCATION - Lat 35°33'41", long 82°35'49" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Buncombe County, NC, Hydrologic Unit 06010105,
DRAINAGE AREA - 104 mi².  
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - June 2019 to current year.
GAGE - Data collection platform. Datum of Gage is 1,975.32 ft. above NAVD of 1988. Satellite telemetry at site.
REMARKS - Gage-height records are generally good. Discharge records are generally good except for period of backwater conditions or estimated discharges, which are poor.  Stage and discharge records are provisional August 3, 2021 to present while stage-discharge relationship is being reestablished. Additional details on the accuracy of the records can be obtained by contacting the USGS South Atlantic Water Science Center at gs-w-nc_nwisweb_data_inquiries@usgs.gov.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - June 2019 to current year.
INSTRUMENTATION - This site is run using YSI EXO3 multiparameter sondes that are swapped between continuous monitor and field monitor approximately every two months. The sondes are calibrated in the Asheville Field office. Upon swapping the sondes calibration checks are completed within 24 hours. All calibration techniques are derived from the USGS National Field Manual for the Collection of Water-Quality Data as well as manufacturer recommendations.
REMARKS - Station operated to define water-quality characteristics in the French Broad River Basin.
