03378500 WABASH RIVER AT NEW HARMONY, IN
LOCATION - Lat 38°07'55", long 87°56'25" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Posey County, IN, Hydrologic Unit 05120113, on downstream side of left edge of concrete pier at bridge on State Road 66 at New Harmony, at Indiana-Illinois State line, 2.3 miles downstream from Black River, and at mile 53.1.
DRAINAGE AREA - 29,234 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR IN2011, 2010 (M). The instantaneous peak discharge reported for WY 2010 has been revised to 105,000 ft³/s, July 2, 2010. The highest daily mean discharge has been revised to 104,000 ft³/s, July 2, 2010.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - August 1988 to current year (gage height), October 2009 to current year (discharge). Water discharge published October 1938 to September 1947. Partial record station--October 1974 to 1985.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 353.07 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. (Prior to October 2004 erroneously published as 353.20 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 and prior to October 1992, erroneously published as 353.30 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929).
REMARKS - Flow partially regulated by upstream tributary U.S.C.E. reservoirs.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of March 1913 reached a stage of 27.7 feet. Flood of January 31, 1937, reached a stage of 24.4 feet.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 339,000 ft³/s, May 26, 1943, gage height, 23.84 feet; minimum daily discharge, 1,800 ft³/s, Sept. 29, 30, 1941.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - CHEMICAL ANALYSES: October 1974 to 1986. Data collected for water years 1997 and 1998 were published in the Kentucky Water Resources Data reports, and are stored in the Indiana NWIS/QW data base. October 1999 to current year. SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: October 1974 to September 1980. WATER TEMPERATURES: October 1974 to September 1980.
