SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1920 to current year. Monthly discharge for 1926, 1930, part of 1931, 1937, 1938, and part of 1939, published in WSP 1305.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 732.76 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988.  Prior to June 1, 1939, non-recording gage at site 500 ft downstream at same datum.  Prior to January 4, 2024, the datum of gage was reported as 733.36 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929.  Satellite telemetry at station.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey. Funding for the operation of this station is provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District and the U.S. Geological Survey.
REMARKS - Flow regulated since January 1925 by Deep Creek Reservoir, 84 mi upstream, since December 1942 by Youghiogheny River Lake (station 03077000) 58 mi upstream, and by several smaller reservoirs. Records are good except for estimated daily discharge, which are poor.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - April 2002 to current year.
PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: June 2005 to September 2009 (seasonal); year-round data collection October 2009 to current year. pH: June 2005 to September 2009 (seasonal); year-round data collection October 2009 to current year. WATER TEMPERATURE: June 2005 to September 2009 (seasonal); year-round data collection October 2009 to current year. DISSOLVED OXYGEN: June 2005 to current year (seasonal).
COOPERATION - Water-quality samples were collected as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Water-Quality Network (WQN) with cooperation from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. Continuous record water-quality data supported by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District.
INSTRUMENTATION - Continuous water-quality monitor interfaced with a data collection platform with 15-minute recording interval. Data collected by the monitor may not be representative of the entire width of the river. Satellite telemetry at station.
REMARKS -

As of October 2013, results from discrete water quality samples collected at this site are available through the U.S. Geological Survey National Water Information System web interface on the "Water Quality for the Nation" webpage. Analyses for pH, water temperature, specific conductance, and dissolved oxygen were performed on site. Sample analyses were performed at the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection laboratory in Harrisburg, PA. Occasionally, values for filtered parameters may exceed values for the corresponding unfiltered parameter. These results are within the limits of analytical precision and methods.

Historically, water temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius were not reported. Water temperature sensors now have the ability to accurately read water temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius.

Data reported by the monitor may not be representative of the entire river width. Cross-sectional water quality data is available upon request.

Data collection for dissolved oxygen suspended in winter months. Other interruptions in the record were due to excessive fouling and malfunctions in the equipment.

For water year 2014: Water temperature, pH, and dissolved oxygen records are rated good. Specific conductance records are rated good, except for January 1 to 25 and April 23 to May 6, which are rated fair, and January 26 to March 28 and May 7 to 9, which are rated poor.

For water year 2015, records for water temperature, pH, and dissolved oxygen are rated good. Records for specific conductance are rated good, except for April 27 to May 1, which are fair, and for May 2 to May 5, which are poor.
