03028000 WEST BRANCH CLARION RIVER AT WILCOX, PA
LOCATION - Lat 41°34'31", long 78°41'33" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Elk County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 05010005, on right bank 20 ft downstream from bridge on Township Route 359 at Wilcox, 100 ft downstream from Wilson Run, and 0.1 mi upstream from Penn Central Railroad bridge.
DRAINAGE AREA - 63 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - Prior to April 5, 2023, the datum of gage was erroneously reported as 1502.02 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1953 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder, crest-stage gage, water-quality monitor, and weighing bucket precipitation gage. Datum of gage is 1,501.00 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988.  Prior to Nov 18, 1953, non-recording gage at site 20 ft upstream at same datum. Nov 18 to Dec 8, 1953, non-recording gage at same site and datum. Prior to April 5, 2023, the datum of gage was erroneously reported as 1,502.02 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929.  Satellite telemetry at station.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey. Funding for the operation of this station is provided by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, and the U.S. Geological Survey.
REMARKS - Maximum peak stage for the period of record was determined from peak-stage indicator at a discharge of 5,590 cfs. Records are good, except those for estimated discharge, which are poor. 
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - WATER TEMPERATURE: October 2011 to current year.
INSTRUMENTATION - Water temperature sensor interfaced with a data collection platform with 15-minute recording interval.
REMARKS - Historically, water temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius were not reported. Water temperature sensors now have the ability to accurately read water temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius. Cross-sectional water quality data is available upon request. 
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - WATER TEMPERATURE: Maximum, 28.1 °C, July 10, 2020; mimimum, -0.2°C, multiple days in winter months.
