SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1941 to March 2006; October 2007 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 1,059.4 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988.   Prior to Dec 12, 1941, non-recording gage at same site and datum. Satellite telemetry at station.  Prior to November 16, 2022, the datum of gage was reported as 1,059.90 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey. Funding for this station is provided by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, and the U.S. Geological Survey.
REMARKS - Flow regulated since November 1949 by Chautauqua Lake, since October 1965 by Allegheny Reservoir (station 03012520) 39 mi upstream. Due to bridge construction, station operations were suspended Mar 21, 2006 through Oct 18, 2007. Records rated good, except those for estimated daily discharges, which are poor.
ECOLOGICAL RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - April 2002 to current year.
REMARKS - Samples were collected using rapid bioassessment protocols for benthic macroinvertebrates using a D-Frame net with a mesh size of 500 mm. Counts are based on a randomly-selected 100-organism (approximate) subsample.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - April 2002 to current year.
COOPERATION - Water-quality samples were collected as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Water-Quality Network (WQN) with cooperation from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
REMARKS - As of October 2013, results from discrete water quality samples collected at this site are available through the U.S. Geological Survey National Water Information System web interface on the "Water Quality for the Nation" webpage. Analyses for pH, water temperature, specific conductance, and dissolved oxygen were performed on site. All other sample analyses were performed at the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection laboratory in Harrisburg, Pa. Occasionally, values for filtered parameters may exceed values for the corresponding unfiltered parameter. These results are within the limits of analytical precision and methods.
