03012550 ALLEGHENY RIVER AT KINZUA DAM, PA
LOCATION - Lat 41°50'29", long 79°00'44" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Warren County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 05010001, in Allegheny National Forest, on left bank 0.5 mi downstream from Kinzua Dam, 2.5 mi east of Hemlock, and at river mile 197.6.
DRAINAGE AREA - 2,180 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY -

WSP 1275: 1936-37. WDR PA-73-1: Drainage area.

Prior to April 4, 2023, the datum of gage was erroneously reported as 1192.55 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929.

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - 1936-91, 2005-2009 (discharge measurements only), 2010 to current year. Published as "near Kinzua" (station 03012500) prior to October 1968, and as "at Warren" (station 03012600) October 1968 to September 1972.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is  1,192.8 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988.  Prior to November 1, 1964, water-stage recorder at site 1.0 mile upstream at different datum. November 1, 1964 to August 4, 1966, non-recording gage, and August 5, 1966 to September 30, 1972, water-stage recorder at site 6.4 miles downstream at different datum. Prior to April 4, 2023, the datum of gage was erroneously reported as 1,192.55 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers bench mark). Satellite telemetry at station.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey. Funding for the operation of this station is provided by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District.
REMARKS - Flow regulated since October 1965 by Allegheny Reservoir (station 03012520), 0.5 mile upstream. Gage height associated with maximum peak flow of 25,000 cfs is 14.12 ft, from site and datum then in use. Records are good except for those estimated discharges which are poor. 
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - WATER TEMPERATURE: October 2007 to current year.
INSTRUMENTATION - Water temperature sensor interfaced with a data collection platform with 15-minute recording interval.
REMARKS -

Historically, water temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius were not reported. Water temperature sensors now have the ability to accurately read water temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius. 

Cross-sectional water quality data is available upon request.

Water year 2014 water temperature records rated poor. Water year 2015 water temperature records rated fair. Water year 2016 records are rated fair. Water year 2017 records are rated fair.

Water year 2018 temperature records are rated fair. 

Beginning in water year 2019, water temperature records are not rated as "excellent", "good", "fair", or "poor".
