02338500 CHATTAHOOCHEE RIVER AT GA 100, NEAR FRANKLIN, GA
LOCATION - Lat 33°16'40.7", long 85°06'03.3" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Heard County, GA, Hydrologic Unit 03130002, on downstream side of Georgia Highway 100 (Franklin Parkway) bridge near left bank, 2.0 mi upstream from confluence with Hillabahatchee Creek, 1.2 mi downstream from confluence with Centralhatchee Creek, 0.2 mile southwest of Franklin, and at mile 235.5. Formerly named "at US 27"; Georgia Department of Transportation re-routed US27, crossing the Chattahoochee River 1.6 mi upstream of gage location.
DRAINAGE AREA - 2,680 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - Published as "Chattahoochee River at US27, at Franklin, GA" through the 2014 water year.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD -
DISCHARGE: June 1928 to October 1931, October 1938 to September 1939, October 1957 to September 1959, March 2004 to current year.
GAGE-HEIGHT: March 2004 to current year.
WATER VELOCITY: March 2004 to current year.
GAGE - Satellite telemetry with a water-stage recorder and an acoustic velocity meter. Velocity data represents the average water velocity at the upstream cross-section of the bridge with positive values in the downstream direction. Datum of gage is 664.88 feet above North American  Vertical Datum (NAVD) of 1988.
COOPERATION - U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District.
REMARKS - Gage-height records are generally fair. Water velocity records are generally fair. Discharge records are generally fair except for estimated discharges, which are poor.  Additional details on the accuracy of the records can be obtained by contacting the USGS South Atlantic Water Science Center at gs-w-ga_nwisweb_data_inquiries@usgs.gov.

Gage is in pool of West Point Lake, which was formed by dam at mile 201.4 since October 1974. Flow regulated by Lake Sidney Lanier since January 1956.

EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of December 1919 reached a stage of 28.4 feet, from floodmarks; corresponding discharge is 105,000 cfs, from rating curve extended above 36,000 cfs on basis of peak flow at stations Chattahoochee River near Norcross, GA and Chattahoochee River at West Point, GA.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge recorded, 76,700 cfs, September 23, 2009; maximum gage-height recorded, 30.44 feet, September 23, 2009; minimum daily discharge, 457 cfs, October 16, 1931.
