LOCATION - Lat 32°08'34", long 81°08'07" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Chatham County, GA, Hydrologic Unit 03060109, 0.3 miles upstream of confluence with Savannah (Front) River, 1.8 miles downstream of GA25, and 1.7 miles southeast of Port Wentworth.
DRAINAGE AREA - Indeterminate.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD -
DISCHARGE: February 2014 to current year.
GAGE HEIGHT: February 2014 to current year.
WATER VELOCITY: February 2014 to current year.
GAGE - Satellite telemetry with a water-stage recorder and an acoustic velocity meter. Datum of gage is the North American Vertical Datum (NAVD) of 1988 (levels by U.S. Geological Survey).

INSTRUMENTATION - in-situ water-quality sonde with sensors monitoring Specific Conductance, pH, Water Temperature, Dissolved Oxygen, and Turbidity. Data are collected at 15-minute intervals and are transmitted via satellite telemetry.
REMARKS -
For period: 10/01/2015-09/07/2016: Specific Conductance, Water Temperature, Dissolved Oxygen, and Salinity records are rated "good"; pH records rated "good", except for the period April 14-June 8, which are rated "fair"; Turbidity records are rated fair to poor, except for the period June 8-September 7, which are rated "good".
For period: 09/08/2016-10/08/2016: Specific Conductance, pH, Water Temperature, Dissolved Oxygen, Turbidity, and Salinity records are not rated. Data for parameter code 63680 (turbidity) were collected using a probe with the following specifications: turbidity, water, monochrome near infra-red LED light, 780-900 nm, detection angle 90 +/ -2.5 degrees, FNU (Formazin Nephelometric Units). Gage destroyed on October 8, 2016 from wind and storm surge resulting from Hurricane Matthew. All equipment were lost and the gage structure itself fell over and was submerged in the river.

DISSOLVED OXYGEN: Maximum recorded, 12.0 mg/L February 2, 2019; minimum recorded, 0.2 mg/L several days during period of record.

TURBIDITY: Maximum recorded, >1,100 FNU on many days during the period of record; minimum recorded, 0.8 FNU June 24, 2014.

SALINITY: Maximum computed, 25.4 parts-per-thousand, October 18, 2022; minimum computed, <0.04 parts-per-thousand on many days during period of record.
