  • Water-Year Summary reports summarize a year of hydrologic data in a printer-friendly format.
  • For water years 2014 onward, choose a water year and parameter and an on-demand Water-Year Summary report will be generated.
  • For water years 2006 through 2013, choose a water year and an Annual Water Data Report will be provided.
  • For water years 2005 and earlier, Annual Water Data Reports may be available in digital format.
  • Not all sites have reports available for every water year.

USGS Water-Year Summary 2024
02198810 ABERCORN CREEK NEAR SAVANNAH,GA
LOCATION - Lat 32°15'21.7", long 81°10'40.9" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Effingham County, GA, Hydrologic Unit 03060109, 1.9 miles upstream of mouth, 4.3 miles southeast of Rincon, and 13 miles north-northwest of Savannah.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD -
DISCHARGE: April 2009 to current year.
GAGE HEIGHT: October 1986 to September 1987, April 1988 to November 1989, April 2009 to current year.
WATER VELOCITY: April 2009 to current year.
GAGE - Satellite telemetry with a water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is the North American Vertical Datum (NAVD) of 1988 (levels by U.S. Geological Survey).
COOPERATION - U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, Savannah District.
REMARKS - Gage-height records are generally fair. Water velocity records are generally fair. Discharge records are generally fair. Additional details on the accuracy of the records can be obtained by contacting the USGS South Atlantic Water Science Center at gs-w-ga_nwisweb_data_inquiries@usgs.gov.

Streamflow at this site is affected significantly by astronomical tides. By convention, the U.S. Geological Survey has established ebb (seaward) flows as positive flows and flood (landward) flows as negative flows. Unfiltered 15-minute stage, velocity, and discharge data are available upon request.

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum gage height recorded, 6.98 feet, March 10, 2020; minimum gage height recorded, -4.75 feet, January 14, 2012.
CLIMATOLOGICAL RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - April 2009 to current year.
INSTRUMENTATION - Tipping-bucket raingage.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 2008 to November 2010; July 2014 to September 2014.
PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD -

SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: October 1986 to September 1987, April 1988 to November 1989, December 2009 to current year.
pH: November 2013 to current year.
WATER TEMPERATURE: December 2009 to current year.
SALINITY: October 2013 to current year.
CHLORIDE: January 2014 to current year.

COOPERATION - U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, Savannah District.
INSTRUMENTATION - Satellite telemetry with a continuous water-quality monitor.
REMARKS -

For period 10/01/1986 to 09/30/1987:  Specific Conductance rated good.

For period 04/01/1988 to 11/30/1989:  Specific Conductance rated good.

For period 12/01/2009 to 09/13/2013:  Specific Conductance and Water Temperature rated good.

For period 10/01/2013 to 09/30/2014: Specific Conductance and Water Temperature are rated good; pH is rated fair.  Computed Salinity is rated good for days for which it is computed.  Computed Salinity is missing on many days due to input specific conductance values exceeding the limit of the rating.

For period 10/01/2014 to 09/30/2015: Specific Conductance and Water Temperature are rated good; pH is rated fair.  Computed Salinity is rated good for days for which it is computed.  Computed Salinity is missing on many days due to input specific conductance values exceeding the limit of the rating.

For period 10/01/2015 to 09/30/2016:  Specific Conductance and Water Temperature are rated good; pH is rated good, except for the period 10/22-11/08/2015, which is rated poor. Computed Salinity records are rated good for days in which values could be computed; most of the year is missing due to input specific conductance values being less than the low end of the salinity rating.

For period 10/01/2016 to 09/30/2017: Specific Conductance, Water Temperature, and pH are rated good.  Computed Salinity is rated good for days for which it is computed.  Computed Salinity is missing on many days due to input specific conductance values exceeding the limit of the rating.

For period 10/01/2017 to 11/22/2017:  Specific Conductance, Water Temperature, and pH are rated good.  Computed Salinity is rated good for days for which it is computed.  Computed Salinity is missing on many days due to input specific conductance values exceeding the limit of the rating.
