01473500 SCHUYLKILL RIVER AT NORRISTOWN, PA
LOCATION - Lat 40°06'56", long 75°21'22" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Montgomery County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 02040203, on left bank at Haws Avenue bridge leading to Barbadoes Island, 0.2 miles upstream from Stony Creek, 0.6 miles upstream from Norristown Dam.
DRAINAGE AREA - 1,760 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR PA-04-1: 2002-03(M).
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - August 2001 to current year. October 1927 to May 1933 at site 0.6 mi downstream, at different datum. Annual maximums, October 1983 to September 1993 from crest-stage gage located 0.7 mi downstream at different datum.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 51 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929, from topographic map. Satellite and landline telemetry at station.  Reported drainage area includes that of Stony Creek, which enters the gage pool 1200 ft downstream of the gage.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Philadelphia District.
REMARKS - Records are good except those for estimated discharges, which are poor.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - February 2012 to current year.
PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: February 2012 to current year. pH: February 2012 to current year. WATER TEMPERATURE: February 2012 to current year. DISSOLVED OXYGEN: February 2012 to current year. TURBIDITY: February 2012 to current year.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the City of Philadelphia, Water Department.
INSTRUMENTATION - Water-quality monitor since February 2012.
REMARKS -

The reporting precision of the turbidity probe in low turbidity water is +/- 0.3 FNU, therefore the lowest reportable value, 0 FNU, does not necessarily indicate a condition of zero turbidity. Data collection discontinued during winter months. Other interruptions in the record were due to malfunctions of the equipment.

For water year 2014, Specific Conductance, pH, Water Temperature and Dissolved Oxygen records are rated good. Turbidity records for water year 2014 are rated fair.

For water year 2015, Specific Conductance record is rated good with exception of Mar. 14-15; Water temperature record is rated good with exception of Mar 14-15; pH record is rated good; Dissolved Oxygen record is rated good with exception of Oct. 7-Dec. 5 and Jul 24-Oct 8 which are fair; Turbidity record is rated fair with the exception of Nov 30 - Dec 1 which is poor.

For water year 2016, Specific Conductance, water temperature and pH records are rated good; Dissolved oxygen record is rated good with exception of April 1 - June 27 which is fair; Turbidity record is rated good with the exception of Oct. 8 - Dec 6 and July 26-Aug. 23 which is fair. 

For water year 2017, Specific Conductance record is rated good during the period Oct 1 – Apr 10 and Aug 25 – Sept 30 and fair during the period Feb 24 – Aug 25; Water Temperature record is rated good during the period Oct 1 – Apr 10 and July 5 – Sept 30 and fair during the period Feb 24 – July 5; pH record is rated good during the period Oct 1 – Apr 10 and fair during the period Apr 10 – Sept 30; Dissolved Oxygen is rated good during the period Oct 1 – Apr 10, fair during the period Apr 10 – Aug 25, and poor during the period Aug 25 – Sept 30; Turbidity record is rated good during the period Oct 1 – Dec 26 and Aug 25 – Sept 30 and fair during the period Feb 24 – Jul 5.

For water year 2018, Specific Conductance record is rated good during the period Jul 17 - Sept 30, and fair during the period Oct 1 – Jul 16; Water Temperature record is rated good during the period Oct 1 –  Sept 30; pH record is rated good during the period Oct 1 – Jul 16 and fair during the period Jul 17 – Sept 30; Dissolved Oxygen is rated fair during the period Oct 1 – Sept 30; Turbidity record is rated fair during the period Oct 1 – Sept 30.

Beginning in water year 2019, water quality records are not rated as "excellent", "good", "fair", or "poor".
