SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD.--Stage-only records from May 1933 to September
1975 (fragmentary), April 1990 to current year. Prior to October
1949, published as "at Orleans".
GAGE.--Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 1,387.25 ft above
National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929, 90.00 ft above Iowa Lake
Survey datum, and 14.15 ft below crest of spillway. Prior to July 6,
1950, non-recording gage or water-stage recorder at various sites
near outlet, all at same datum.
REMARKS.--Lake formed by concrete dam with ungated spillway at
elevation 1,401.4 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929.
Dam constructed in 1969. A previous outlet works had been constructed
in 1944. Lake is used for conservation and recreation.
